アルベニスの『組曲エスパーニャ』(全６曲)では、なぜだかこの第２曲の「タンゴ」だけがとても有名、ゆったりと甘い南国風のメロディが夏に似合います。
アルゼンチンタンゴではなく、カタルーニャの船乗りたちが好んだハバネラ(ハバナ風のスパニッシュタンゴ)のリズムです。　後にハバネラはフラメンコと混ざり合ってアルゼンチンタンゴのルーツとなりました。

In the six pieces of Albeniz’s “Suite Espana”, this second piece “Tango” is somehow very famous. A relaxed and sweet, southern melody sounds good in summer. It is not an Argentine tango, rather the rhythm of the habanera which the sailors of Catalonia loved. Later, habanera became the roots of the Argentine tango, mixed with flamenco.
